About the inspiration sessions
AI has become an integral part of our society — and certainly of the healthcare sector. Developments are happening at lightning speed, and it is crucial to keep up.
Our inspiration sessions help healthcare professionals to gain new insights into the practical applications of AI and to exchange experiences with colleagues.
The concept remains familiar:
6:00 p.m. – Welcome reception with sandwiches
6:15 p.m. – Inspiring speakers share their experiences and concrete cases
7:30 p.m. – Q&A session
7:45 p.m. – Networking opportunity with snacks and drinks
At THE Institute, we believe that the networking opportunity is just as valuable as the inspiration session itself!
Meet colleagues, exchange experiences and talk to commercial partners in attendance who will explain their solutions.
June Inspiration Session: AI Will Survive
An introduction to "real-time" AI translation tools in healthcare
AI is transforming healthcare, but what about communication between healthcare providers and patients in an increasingly diverse society?
Language barriers remain a major challenge within healthcare. At the same time, we are seeing a strong rise in medically trained AI translation tools that promise to make communication faster, more accurate and more accessible, with “real-time” translation in hundreds of languages.
During this inspirational session, you will discover how this technology is already being used in practice today. We combine scientific insights with concrete experiences from the field, so that you not only understand what is possible, but also what really works.
Program
Researchers Prof. Ellen Van Praet (Ghent University) and Dr Pablo Decock (HOGENT), promoters of MATCHeN – Multilingual Access To Care & Health Expertise Network, will open the evening with a clear introduction to AI-supported “real-time” translation systems.
Afterwards, we will share our experiences with tools such as EZRAI, Mabel, Tulka and Care To Translate:
-
Where are these tools already making a difference today?
-
What are the limitations?
-
How safe and reliable are they in practice?
Real insights, straight from healthcare practice.
Why take part?
-
Get a clear introduction to medically trained AI translation tools
-

Past inspiration sessions
Inspiration session in April: AI in healthcare processes
We explore four specific AI applications that facilitate healthcare processes, make them more efficient and give doctors back valuable time.
During the session, each application will be in the spotlight for twenty minutes.
Doctors who use the tools in practice will share their experiences: what works, where are there still limitations, and how does AI deliver concrete added value?
Real stories from practice!
The four AI applications we would like to put in the spotlight during this inspiration session:
The healthcare assistant that thinks along with the healthcare provider: asks for and records basic information before the patient arrives.
Smart medical, AI-driven medical history and care navigation for patients and healthcare providers.
Smart medical documentation that converts time-consuming administrative work into valuable, structured data.
Listens in on the consultation and summarises the conversation using AI. It also generates complete consultation letters, hospitalisation letters, referral letters, certificates, etc. based on a concise quote.
Squire supports doctors and nurses throughout the consultation process: it saves time by speaking to the patient in advance, generates medical documentation in the healthcare provider’s preferred style and language by listening in, and allows findings to be dictated to quickly complete documents or EPR fields.
What will you take away from this inspirational session?
* Realistic insights into AI in healthcare
* Practical examples and experiences from fellow doctors
* Inspiration to use AI efficiently in your daily practice
