Communication is key!
Thursday evening, 27 November 2025

Kathy Dewitte studied economics at Ghent University and worked for 18 years at Artevelde University College, where she was director of business and management programmes and director of the business and management expertise network.
Since September 2024, she has been managing director of VIVES University College.

People-oriented HR policy in times of change
Organizations change constantly.
Mergers, collaborations, and restructurings bring new opportunities but also pose major challenges in terms of human resources management. How do you ensure that employees remain engaged when two organizations come together? How do you bring different organizational cultures together into one shared and supported culture ? And what role can HR play in this?
During this evening, we will zoom in on the “soft” side of HR policy: guiding employees through periods of change. We will discuss how to align employees from different organizations during a merger, how to create support for a shared narrative , and how targeted communication can contribute to trust and connection within a new organization.
In addition, we delve deeper into the role of board members: what levers do they have to ensure a merger succeeds not only organizationally but also on a human level? What approach works to bring employees along in change and to turn two cultures into one strong whole?
Two experienced experts, Kathy Dewitte and Geert Goossens , discuss these themes. They share their insights, practical experience, and concrete tools for organizations facing or during a merger, or those wishing to leverage their HR policy more effectively during times of change.
