In order to provide the best care for the patients in your hospital, it is necessary that the care processes can be analyzed, both at your hospital and at national level. Many of these analyzes cannot start until the treated pathology has been converted to a code. Medical registration is the conversion of a concept (a diagnosis or a procedure) into the corresponding code, in Belgium an ICD-10-BE code.

In this training, the entire coding process is explored, from the discharge letter to full coded dataset, ready for transmission to Portahealth or for use in retrospective observational studies. The importance of medical registration is framed within a high-performance health care system in which a number of handles are provided in each chapter that enable you to convert each discharge letter to the correct ICD-10-BE codes.
